Well that was faster than expected. Panasonic Eluga, the Japanese company’s first Android smartphone for the European market, is already available in the UK, with Expansys already taking orders for both black and silver models.

Each model is available for 364.99 GBP, which translates into some 445 EUR or $589. That may sound kinda steep, but bear in mind this is the price of an unlocked device that doesn’t require signing contracts with mobile operators – you can use Eluga on prepaid, if you fancy so.

Specs wise, Panasonic’s baby rocks a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing one, 8GB of built-in memory, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show out of box (upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year). Moreover, it’s also a dust- and water-proof phone, which is a nice touch.

In related news, another Panasonic smartphone will soon hit Europe, Eluga Power, that rocks a 5-inch screen and 720p HD screen.
