I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed there are just two 8.9-inch tablets out there – Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and LG Optimus Tab. I really don’t understand why there are no other models to choose from. The way I see it, 10.1-inch tablets are too big and those with 7 or 7.7-inch screens are too small. I haven’t always thought like that – I used to love 7-inchers; however, with my next phone almost certainly having a 4.7-inch screen I could really use a bigger screen (on a tablet).
As I said, “classic” 10.1-inchers are too big for me (and so is the iPad in case you wonder), I want something more compact. In that sense, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 tops my list even though it’s still bit expensive considering it has been out for almost a year now (I haven’t really checked when it was announced).
My favorite jacket has the right-sized pocket to make it easy to carry around an 8.9-inch tablet. But that’s not only reason why I want such a device — it’s also easier to hold in the hand and thumb-type on it.
Again I know I’m not the only one thinking between these lines, so I’m wondering why LG and Samsung are the only companies with 8.9-inch tablets? Sure enough, Motorola’s Xoom 2 Media Edition is similarly sized, but honestly – I don’t feel like buying a Moto-made product any more. They’ve been late to release timely software updates, which is a big turn off point for me. Moreover, at this point we’re not sure what will happen to the once proud American handset maker. So I want Samsung or LG, with the first company topping my list.
Now I ask you – do you want an 8.9-inch tablet too? Or that’s just people in my immediate surrounding who crave for such a device? Of course – we want it to rock a quad-core processor to make for an even faster experience. What do you say?
