Not too long ago we all found out that the wildly popular iOS app, Flipboard, would land on Samsung’s Galaxy S III by way of exclusivity. The awesome Android community of hackers wasted no time to make a port of the application available for download. Since that time the visually pleasing news application has remained locked up in a Galaxy S III institution, and now, its ready to break free of its fragmented shackles to roam onto other Android handsets. Word from Flipboard is the application will soon be available on all Android devices.
Why such a strenuous process, you ask? Well, if you’ve been on Android for some time, then you should know about the spin that’s perpetuated by app developers and manufacturers when it comes to exclusivity with certain popular apps. The bullshit that’s usually fed to people for this exclusivity is supposedly for stability and performance matters.
They (the app developers) tell folks in order for our cool app to come to your phone, we must first concentrate on one device, with one screen size and resolution, which just so happens to be the latest hyped flagship phone. If you’re smart, you’d know it makes no sense if you consider the fact that many powerhouse Android phones on the market can handle apps like Flipboard. Of course, in the end, it’s all about money to get that exclusivity, but with over 9 million pre-orders of the Galaxy S III — could you blame Flipboard?
Unfortunately, there’s no hint to when Flipboard may start to make it into impatient beta testers hands, but chances are it’ll be sparingly close.
