Samsung S Voice agrees with Siri, says Windows Phone handset is the best smartphone

Just when you thought the story about Siri saying the Nokia Lumia 900 is the best smartphone was over because Apple told Siri to keep her damn mouth shut, here comes the Samsung Galaxy S III with S Voice. It too is capable of answering the question “What is the best smartphone?” and it too names a Windows Phone handset.

No it’s not the Lumia 900 again. S Voice recommends the HTC Trophy as the best smartphone. Okay, so what gives? Siri was getting its information from Wolfram Alpha, which got its information from Best Buy’s highest rated smartphone. It turns out Samsung S Voice also gets its data from Best Buy’s user ratings. In the time that Siri was saying the Lumia 900 was the best phone, that device has now dropped to number four on Best Buy’s list. Can you guess which one is number one? Yep, the HTC Trophy.

All joking aside, Windows Phone is actually a very good mobile operating system. Yes, it doesn’t have nearly as many apps as iOS or Android in its Marketplace, but other than that it’s a perfectly worthy competitor and, in my opinion, it often gets less credit than it deserves. I think those intelligent people living inside the iPhone 4S and Galaxy S III are trying to give us subliminal messages.

I wonder of the Windows Phone team has anything to say about this. Last time, they tweeted “We have to admit, occasionally, Siri knows what’s up.” in response to the Siri ordeal. Now they have two competing smartphones on their side.
