Later today (after 7am PDT), popular Android widget app, HD Widgets, will get a major update (version 3.0), packing a ton of new features for Android customization junkies. Without further ado, here’s what’s new:
- Widget previews are now WYSIWYG, displaying current time, weather, settings and even screen rotation.
- Clock designs are no longer static so you can mix and match more styles, backgrounds, colors and fonts. Moreover, there’s a new Random button if you don’t feel inspired at the moment.
- Customizable switch rows – mix & match five switches per row and choose the highlight color. There are now over 30 switches & shortcuts to choose from, including the new Night Brightness, Screen Timeout, Screen Max Time, Force Sync; as well as Refresh Library switches and shortcuts for Voice Search, Search, Clock, Calendar and Weather.
- Weather screen clean-up & level-up with support for multiple locations and a drop menu for switching weather services (for quick comparisons).
In addition, there are changes under the hood with HD Widgets 3.0 sporting a whole new Theme Pack architecture, which will allow adding of new themes, widgets and extras as downloadable APK files…
Finally, it’s worth adding that during the first 48 hours, HD Widgets will be available for 99 cents (usually $1.99).
