Qualcomm acquired Summit Microelectronics, a U.S.-based developer and provider of programmable power integrated circuits, to enhance its power management roadmap. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, though we do know that all employees of Summit Microelectronics have joined Qualcomm’s CDMA Technologies division.

Summit Microelectronics provides flexible, highly integrated power management solutions combining power regulation with digital control in a single chip, and the company’s fast charging solutions are found in a variety of mobile phones, tablets and e-readers.

Commenting on the news, Qualcomm’s president and COO Steve Mollenkopf said: “Summit Microelectronics brings key expertise, technology, products, and design wins in battery charging and DC-DC converters. This acquisition enhances the competitiveness of Qualcomm’s chipset solutions and enables us to provide our customers with industry leading power management and charging performance.”
