Of all the mobile operators in Canada, Bell Mobility is best-placed to take advantage of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The math is simple – Bell owns CTV, which has committed to bring more than 3,500 hours of coverage online and on mobile devices. Of the total number, live streaming of coverage from CTV, RDS, TSN, Sportsnet, and V will account for 1,431 hours; and live streaming of events from various Olympic venues for 2,100 hours. As for “how much this benefit will cost,” it looks like the price hasn’t been changed and it’s $5/month for 10 hours of viewing.
Now we’re wondering, whether Bell will/can use this newly found advantage to its benefit. I can easily imagine them offering a number of hours of free streaming from London to everyone purchasing a new smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S III, which also happen to be the official phone of the Olympics…
