LG will include the QuickMemo feature to its L-series smartphones, allowing users to take a screenshot and quickly add notes to the image. In other words, it’s like Skitch with the screenshot capability — though I doubt LG’s app is as cool as Skitch (which is a product of Evernote in case you care to know).
Back to LG; at the moment, they are offering the new feature in certain regions and will make it widely available by the end of 3rd quarter. The official pitch for QuickMemo goes like this:
LG’s QuickMemo feature allows for instant screen capture of any type of content such as web pages, graphical images, photos and videos. Users can write, draw, or jot a memo directly on the captured screen with their finger. QuickMemo notes can then be shared with others via text, chat, or email. Once users download the upgrade, they will be able to invoke QuickMemo by pressing the volume keys or via the notification bar.
It’s nice to see LG adding these sort of features to its phones, but I’m not sure they “deserve” a dedicated press release. Then again, it’s a slow news day so we’re going with it, nonetheless…
