Box updates both its iOS and Android app, bringing more Dropbox-like features

Box has updated both its iOS and Android applications. The wildly popular cloud storage service introduced some pretty cool features in its new versions on both mobile operating systems. First, the iOS update adds an incredible feature similar to what its competitor Dropbox brings, which is the ability to save photos and videos to your device’s library (Photos app). Other features include Box OneCloud enhancements, improvements to file uploads, and additional bug fixes along with “performance improvements.”

As for the Android update, Box introduced a multi-selection of folders and files, plus the ability to copy and move them. It’s really a simple process. All users have to do is long press on the first folder or file that you would like copied or moved; once that happens, a column filled with check boxes will slide out from the left side. The app’s icons at the bottom lets users move, copy or delete.

I’ve always been quite fond of Box.net, but it still trails Dropbox when it comes to consumer mind share. The cloud service is doing a good job not only improving the app, but with its partnerships with big name companies.

If you don’t have the Box.net app, hit the Google Play link or the iTunes App Store link.
