If you’ve been using a Sony Android smartphone, you know their picture gallery and music player (Walkman) apps look awesome. Thanks to the savvy hackers from the XDA-Developers community, now you can try them out on your non-Sony Ice Cream Sandwich device.
The Sony Album (picture gallery) highlights the most recent pictures in the top left corner, and depending on how much you pinch to zoom in and out, the preview thumbnails will shrink or grow in size to fit the screen. From here, you can select multiple items, and share and delete pictures you want. The second tab will show pictures on a map if geotags are available, while the third one (online) doesn’t work at the moment.
As for Sony’s Walkman music player, it allows you to browse albums and songs by sliding them to the side with touching a cover revealing options for adding to favorites and play queue. The notifications bar displays the currently played track along with buttons for previous and next track, and pause/play. The “My music” tab lets you browse your music by tracks, artists, albums, playlists and favorites; and there also a dedicated search button. The sound enhancements (equalizer) unfortunately doesn’t work but visualizer does, displaying awesome animations when playing music…
