Samsung held an event in NYC this morning and used the gathering to introduce the US version of the Galaxy Note 10.1. The Note 10.1 was first introduced at MWC 2012 and officially announced earlier this month. It will be available globally, with the US retail launch slated for August 16.

Spec-wise, the Note 10.1 is a mix between the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the international Galaxy S III. It has a 1.4GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch display with a 1280×800 resolution, SD expansion up to 64GB and connectivity options which include WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. A 4G LTE version will be available later this year. It also sports a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera and a front-facing 1.9-megapixel camera. Keeping with the Note branding, the tablet will also include a stylus and feature Samsung’s S Pen experience. All this hardware will be powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It’s priced at $499 for the 16GB version and $549 for the 32GB version. The Note 10.1 will hit retail shelves here in the US on August 16.
