LG unveiled a new member of its L-series of devices – L9. As you can imagine, this particular smartphone is more powerful than previous devices (L3, L5 and L7) announced at Mobile World Congress. It comes with a 4.7-inch IPS display (screen resolution was not mentioned), 1GB of RAM, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one, 4GB of built-in storage, microSD card slot, 2,150mAh battery, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show.
On the software front, there’s LG’s note-taking QMemo app, and My Style Keypad that allows folks to type with with one hand (right or left-handed) or two hands. However, the most interesting app is QTranslator which is able to instantly translate not only words, but also entire sentences and phrases with a scan from nearly 44 foreign languages to 64 user languages. Using OCR technology, it recognizes letters upon scanning with the camera and utilizes electronic dictionary or online translation engine to translate words, sentences or phrases. Pretty cool.
We’ve no idea how much the Optimus L9 will cost nor when it will be launched. As soon as we find that out, we’ll let you know…
