According to a report in Reuters, Amazon may be partnering with Nokia to bring navigation to its line of Kindle Fire tablets. Amazon’s current Kindle Fire runs Google’s Android OS, but it does not include Google Maps because the device doesn’t have the necessary GPS hardware.
Amazon is expected to unveil a new Kindle Fire at an event next week, and sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that the new Fire will include support for location services. This would allows customers to use their Kindle Fire for navigation, check-ins and other services that require your location.
Amazon is holding its event on Thursday, September 6, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out what surprises Amazon has in store for us.
