The moment when phones will have 128GB of built-in storage is near with Samsung starting mass production of its 128GB eMMC for mobile devices. According to the Korean company, the new eMMC is also fast, achieving a transfer speed of up to 140 MB/s while adhering to JEDEC eMMC v4.5 specification.
And just like other eMMC Pro, this module also uses NAND with a toggle DDR 2.0 interface fabricated with 20 nanometer class process technology.
Now if I had to guess when we’ll see the first devices with 128GB of built-in memory I would say that will happen at some point next year, with major smartphone makers unveiling their flagship devices. We’ll see…
