NS Basic for Symbian OSThere’s a new version of NS Basic available with included support for Symbian S60 5th Edition. What this means is that developers can make touch-enabled apps optimized for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the upcoming Nokia N97 smartphones. As a result, we’re hoping more apps will be released for Nokia’s touchscreen platform in the coming months.

Aside from adding support for touch, NS Basic for Symbian OS 1.1 improves screen rendering and gradient buttons, and adds Italian language support.

As a reminder, it’s worth repeating that NS Basic has a Visual Basic-like look and feel, featuring easy to use, standard and structured BASIC; over a dozen built-in screen objects such as buttons, fields and popups; TCP/IP communications; math and trigonometric functions; royalty free distribution of created applications; and lots of sample code, tutorials and tech notes.

NS Basic/Symbian OS 1.0 runs on Windows 2000, XP and Vista and normally costs $149.95 for a single user, with an introductory special of $129.95. Pro licenses, which allow full application signing, are $299.95.
