The previously announced Samsung Galaxy Camera, an Android-powered touchscreen digital camera with 4G LTE connectivity, is on its way to Verizon Wireless. Though the Galaxy Camera was announced for AT&T’s network in November, its speeds were limited to HSPA+. The Verizon version is the first to ship with 4G LTE.

This announcement doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Just yesterday a Verizon-compatible LTE Galaxy Camera was spotted on Samsung’s website and then quickly pulled off, but not soon enough for it to reach the media.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera features a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, WiFi, LTE, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The camera is a 16MP shooter with 21x optical zoom. The 4.8-inch touchscreen display on the back lets you download and run Android apps. Photography and editing apps are recommended, however the device has access to the entire wealth of apps in Google Play.

The addition of LTE in this model of Galaxy Camera raises the price a bit. Instead of the $499.99 price tag on AT&T, you’ll be paying $549.99 for this guy on Verizon. It sounds crazy expensive (most likely because it is) but Big Red is running a promotion: buy one, and you’ll only have to tack an extra $5 per month on your Share Everything data plan. The Galaxy Camera be available with the carrier on December 13th.
