Looks like Google Sync isn’t just for BlackBerry users anymore! Google has just flipped the switch on Google Sync for iPhone and WinMo devices. iPhone and Window Mobile users can now keep their calendar events and contacts synchronized between mobile phone and the “cloud” in much the same way that Apple’s MobileMe service keeps contacts, emails, and calendar events synchronized across all your web-connected devices.
Cloud-synchronization services have been gaining popularity since Apple introduced MobileMe 
for Mac and iPhone users, and Google’s cross-platform Google Sync is proving to be a serious player in the cloud-based data-sync market. Google Sync will keep all your devices synchronized to the “cloud.” Any changes made to contacts or calendar events on the web are automatically pushed to your devices, and vice versa. Unfortunately, Google Sync beta currently only supports contacts and calendar events synchronization. But it’s likely on a matter of time before Google enables email and possibly even to-do list synchronization through Google Sync – the recent launch of Google Gmail Tasks bodes well for to-do syncing in the future.

Keep an eye on Google to make big moves in the mobile space. Google has been streamlining their mobile services of late, we can only imagine the folks in Mountain View are focusing on consolidated cloud-based services for mobile phones.
