Intel is apparently looking to enter the fast-growing market of entry-level smartphones with first device wearing the Intel logo apparently coming to Africa. The rumored Intel Lexington or Intel Zeeya Beach is apparently heading to Kenyan carrier Safaricom, which doesn’t offer the high-end devices — their portfolio includes such last-year products as Nokia N9 and HTC Sensation.
We don’t know much about this phone except that it will have a rather small screen and support Bluetooth 2.1 standard — kinda strange in the world where phones come with Bluetooth 4.0 out of box.
Anyway, we’re glad to see Intel trying to stay in the mobile game, but thus far they haven’t been able to impress us. The DROID RAZR M is an interesting product but it’s still not a flagship device and the chip maker will have to push extra hard to break into this market. We’ll see what they have in store for 2013…
