Nokia releases official specs of Lumia 820 back cover for 3D printing

If you’re rocking a Nokia Lumia 820 and wish that the back cover had a little more pop to it, then you’re in luck. Sort of. The Finnish company has released official specs for the back cover of the 820, allowing users to print their very own custom 3D covers.

While there’s a very good chance you don’t have a 3D printer, the fact that you have an option to print out your own for the Lumia 820 is freaking awesome. If you don’t have a 3D printer and you’re hard up to get a new back cover for your Windows Phone handset, there are a few services that can print 3D objects out for you, like Moddler in San Francisco.

We can only hope to see more manufacturers make moves like this, as we’re sure many people would want to change it up after a while. Then again, we’d imagine many companies would likely just make their very own replacements and get some cash in the process. Nonetheless, it’s pretty great of Nokia to do this, and we’re sure that those who have access to a 3D printer will have some fun with it.
