Foursquare for Business iOS App Launches

Foursquare, a location based social network that predates many other location apps including Facebook’s check-in feature, has up until now been focused on offering services to customers of establishments. Now, Foursquare, scrambling  to monetize, has released a new iOS app that puts emphasis on the business owner.

The new app, Foursquare for Business, is an app that gives business owners some useful tools, like viewing recent check-ins, posting photo updates, refreshing their daily menus and getting a glimpse at customer activity at their locations. Users can also send Foursquare updates to Facebook and Twitter, helping drive traffic to their sites, and ultimately, into their locations. A quote from the Foursquare for Business website sums up some of the apps features:

“Here are some ways you can learn more about your customers using our analytics:

Measure your success. See how many check-ins you’re getting each week, and how many of those are being shared on Facebook and Twitter.

Meet your best customers. Find out who the mayor of your business is (the person who visits the most!), and learn more about your other top visitors.

Follow your activity. Each week, we’ll send you an email that includes key stats, along with any recent tips and photos that people have left at your business.”

If you are a business owner who already uses Foursquare, check out this app. It promises to give business owners and managers a good glimpse of their customer base.
