Solavei first in US to carry BlackBerry Z10 at $999 premium

The BlackBerry Z10 has only been out for less than two weeks, available only to those in Canada and the United Kingdom. A launch in the U.S. is expected sometime in mid-March. Solavei, a prepaid mobile carrier that offers a 4G network, has decided to be first in carrying and offering the device for sale ahead of its official roll out in the states. Now users who desperately want the device get an opportunity to own it at premium cost of $999. Solavei uses T-Mobile’s cellular towers.

The problem with the extremely high cost that Solavei is demanding is the fact that BlackBerry offers its unlocked Z10’s in the Middle East for $700. This is $300 less than what the prepaid provider is asking. Loyal customers can purchase the device from the carrier starting today.

“We believe in giving our members access to the latest phones and wireless capabilities,” Solavei CEO Ryan Wuerch said in a statement. “Solavei not only gives its members the opportunity to pay less for unlimited mobile service, but even the opportunity to earn income by sharing Solavei with others.”

On one hand, you can say that Solavei is acting mad greedy asking for this kind of premium for the Z10. But you also have to give them props for going the extra mile in getting handsets way ahead of their release for its customers. If people prefer to not have to go through Solavei for the BlackBerry Z10, they could always check other alternatives like eBay.
