Toshiba unveiled a new entry level 10.1-inch Android tablet in the Regza Tablet series, AT501. The device will be available in Japan later this month for approximately 45,000 yen, which translates into some $481.

Aside from the LED-backlit display, Toshiba’s baby also packs NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core chip, a number of ports (usual for all Toshiba devices, though without HDMI), Wi-Fi connectivity support, Bluetooth, pair of cameras (3-megapixel on the back, 1.2-megapixel front-facing one), GPS, microSD card slot and the battery that should keep the tablet up and running for up to 10 hours.

When it comes to preloaded software, there’s Regza Link Share that allows users to watch programs recorded with Toshiba Regza TV recorders, Splashtop Remote Desktop PC, Thinkfree Office Mobile and Kaspersky Tablet Security (not that you necessarily need an extra protection).

As for the size, the Toshiba Regza A501 measures 261x180x10.5 mm and has a weight of 625 grams. We’ve no idea whether it will ever hit the Western markets… and we’re not sure we need it, anyway.
