MWC 2013: Hands-on with the LG Optimus G Pro

While it had been rumored for some time, LG finally unveiled the Optimus G Pro last week and we finally had a chance to get some hands on with the phablet device. LG’s Optimus G Pro is powerful through and through, but will the consumer bite?

The Optimus G Pro rocks a beautiful 5.5 inch 1080p HD IPS display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU. The phablet device also offers up a 13 megapixel rear shooter, along with a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, expandable via its micro SD card slot, and a generous 3140 mAh. The LG Optimus G Pro has all the makings of a solid device that deserves to sit right next to its Pro-less brother, but we do wish the two devices kept the same design aesthetic.

It’s rather easy to see the Optimus G Pro looks exactly like the Galaxy Note II, which is a move we wish LG hadn’t done. We’re big fans of the Optimus G’s design, and we wish LG has left the physical home button off of the device.

The massive 5.5 inch display essentially swallows the entire face of the device, with just enough room enough the squeeze the “essentials” on the top and bottom. Above the display, you’ll find the standard LG designed ear piece, front facing camera, along with the proximity and ambient light sensors. Below, you’ll see two capacitive keys for back and menu, with a physical home button between them. You’ll find your standard affair along the sides of the device with a volume rocker, power button, 3.5mm headphone jack, and micro USB port. On of the back of the device you’ll find the 13 megapixel camera and LED flash.

Be sure to take a closer look of the device in our gallery below!
