The first release of the Opera Software’s next-gen mobile browsers is now available for download from Google Play. It’s not Opera Mini or Opera Mobile – it’s just Opera Browser.

Still in beta, the WebKit-based application looks pretty solid, featuring Opera’s “classic” interface with Speed Dial landing page. Here we find some cosmetic and UI changes to make for an even better experience; for instance, your most-visited sites are centered in a grid and there are also customization options allowing you to drag and drop icons around the page.

As you would expect, the bandwidth-saving capabilities come included and now they’re accessible from the newly called Off-Road Mode. Plus, let’s not forget the Discover tab that doubles as a news reader. It updates automatically, but you can tweak it to sing along your commands.

Other features such as pop-up blocking, download manager and Opera Link for bookmark and settings sync are there as well, making sure you feel at home with this new generation of Opera browsers. Check it out and let us know how it works for you…
