Samsung has officially announced two Galaxy Mega phones, one sporting a 5.8- and the other one a 6.3-inch display, targeting folks who like big screens but don’t want to pay the “Galaxy Note premium.” In that sense, these two are mid-end products and will most likely outsell Sammy’s premium Note offering.

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 has a qHD (540×960 pixels) screen, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 1.9-megapixel front-facing one, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity, 2,600mAh battery, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD memory card slot.

As for the Galaxy Mega 6.3, it sports a 720p HD screen, faster dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 8 or 16 GB of internal memory, 3,200mAh battery, while the rest of the specs are the same.

When it comes to preloaded apps, expect a number of Samsung apps and software tweaks running right from the get-go. These include Group Play, Samsung WatchON, Samsung Link, S Translator, ChatON, S Travel and Story Album…

The new Samsung Galaxy Mega series will be available from May starting with Europe and Russia, and gradually releasing in other markets.
