US variant of Galaxy S4 has a quad-core Snapdragon processor, not an eight-core Exynos

Samsung officially confirmed the details on the US launch of its flagship Galaxy S4 handset. Besides the date and time, Samsung also confirmed the internal hardware that will land in the US variant.

Not surprisingly, the US version of the phone will rock a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series processor and not the company’s own 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa SoC. This is similar to the Galaxy SIII, which shipped with a dual-core Snapdragon and not the quad-core Exynos processor. It’s a trade-off as the Galaxy S4, likes it predecessor, includes LTE connectivity. You’ll get fast internet in exchange for a processor that is, at least on paper, slightly less powerful.

The Galaxy S4 is expected to land on seven major and regional US carriers in the upcoming weeks. Anyone going to grab an S4 when it goes on sale?
