LG Optimus G2 to sport a super-slim body, power and volume buttons on the back?

Yesterday we’ve told you that the LG Optimus G2 will be released at some point in the third quarter of the year. Adding to the rumor mill, we’re now hearing that the upcoming device may come with a super-slim body, one that made LG’s engineers move the power and volume buttons from sides to the back of the phone. Yeah, we do realize how crazy that sounds but that’s what we’ve heard. In that sense, we’re not sure whether we should applaud LG for taking the novel approach or bash them for even thinking about it. On one hand we like when companies innovate and try different things; on the other, we can’t really imagine laying a device on its buttons. Guess we’ll have to wait and see (and try) the Optimus G2 to make a judgment call.

In the meantime, it’s worth taking another look at LG’s new strategy that involves launching two flagship devices per year, the one with a bigger screen (phablet – Optimus G Pro) in the first half, and the smaller one in H2. Samsung does just the opposite and is leaving the Galaxy Note III launch for the second half of the year.

Again, the Optimus G2 will be a monster-phone, packing all kind of top-notch goodies, including a super-fast quad-core processor (most likely Qualcomm Snapdragon 800), 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, a ton of built-in storage and so on.
