Oppo R809T announced in China but it's not the next thinnest smartphone in the world

Two weeks ago we’ve told you that Oppo will soon launch a new device which once again would make the Chinese company known as maker of the world’s thinnest smartphone. The Oppo R809T has been officially announced, but we’re said to say it’s not as thin as we thought it will be. Instead of having a 6.13mm thick body, the phone has thickness of 6.93mm. That’s still pretty impressive but the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone remains at the hands of TCL and its Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra (which has a 6.45mm thin body).

All said, Oppo’s baby is still an impressive device with specs that include a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, 1.2GHz quad-core processor (most likely MediaTek MT6589), 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one and 1GB of RAM. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is running the show right from the get-go.

Again, we doubt most of you will be able to play with the Oppo R809T. As far as we know, it will be available only in China though some surrounding countries may get it as well. We’ll let you know if we hear it’s heading to the western hemisphere…
