Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 processor powers many of the hottest smartphones around today, such as the HTC One and LG’s Optimus G Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S4. The chipset offers amazing performance and helps extend battery life. Qualcomm has another chipset up their sleeve, the Snapdragon 800, which is a quad-core chipset that can maintain a clock speed of up to 2.3 GHZ with an Adreno 330 graphics processor that supports 4K resolution playback.

At a media event in Beijing, Qualcomm stated that its next generation Snapdragon 800 processor will enter mass production in late May, according to Engadget. Unfortunately, benchmarks were not available for Qualcomm’s new chip, but the company claims that they will be available in June of this year.

The Snapdragon will no doubt be a powerful chipset, but NVIDIA’s upcoming Tegra 4i looks promising as well, and could give Qualcomm a run for their money.
