Some Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 versions to be powered by Intel chips?

Samsung is either experiencing some (serious) problems in its own chip supplies or is having some other plans we’re not aware off. The Korean company is making its own Exynos chips for mobile devices (or is sourcing them from Qualcomm), so we’re surprised to learn that it may use some Intel-made chips in its products.

That could change with Reuters reporting that certain Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 version(s) could use Intel’s Clover Trail+ chip which is also known as Atom Z2580. As I’m writing this only few companies used this processor in their products, including Lava, Lenovo and ZTE. We never imagined Samsung following this trend, but what do you know. If Reuters says so, it gotta be true, right?

Anyway, the mentioned tablet should join the existing Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 later this month, with Sammy most likely unveiling it at its June 20th event. It will likely be a mid-range device, leaving the high-end of the market for the Galaxy Note series, which too may get a refresh later in the year. We’ll let you know when/whether we hear something new x86 processors in Samsung’s gear…
