Apple to Start In-Store iPhone Trade-In Program?

Apple could be starting a trade-in program soon, according to a report from Bloomberg. The program would not only help Apple sell new handsets, but would increase the proliferation of Apple products to markets outside of the U.S., where demand for used Apple devices is high.

According to the report, Apple has teamed up with Brightstar Corp, a mobile phone distributor who also has coordinated with the likes of AT&T, T-Mobile and other carriers with their trade-in programs. Apple is currently offering a web-based recycling service which pays Apple device owners for their used devices, but the new trade-in program will only be accessible through Apple’s retail stores.
