In essence, it allows developers to write their programs in HTML and JavaScript, and have those apps ported to BlackBerry, Android and iPhone seamlessly. There are still a few gaps in the system (mostly on the BlackBerry side), but as a work-in-progress, this is pretty impressive. Platform fragmentation can really slow down app development, but stuff like this really tears down those barriers and brings software to new markets more quickly.
