An on-screen keyboard is the biggest change we’re waiting for from Android Cupcake development, but there are plenty of smaller changes here that developer Joey Sochacki runs down. This will hopefully be the first of many weekly updates on what’s new with Cupcake, but I wonder if there will actually be enough changes between builds to be worth the video. If you don’t have the 12 minutes to watch, here’s the short version.
- Home key takes you to first screen
- Live Folders for contacts (starred, with phone numbers or otherwise)
- Magnification in web browser
- Camera preview pane in black and white, making it more responsive
- Soft keypad predictive works, still hard to type on, has options to disable
- Options for
- Window animation
- Font size
- Transition animations
- End key functionality
- Compass in maps
- Bluetooth
- Manage applications has icons
AT&T showed up in the network operators list… Perhaps a destination for the HTC Magic? If pushed firmware 1.5 picture here could be available to existing G1 owners within 2-3 weeks.
