Need a dedicated and powerful RSS feed/news reader for your Symbian S60 smartphone? Paragon Software obviously thinks so, hence they’ve released a new application called Handy RSS.
Touted as an “advanced RSS news reader,” the application allows users to read RSS news feeds either as feed headers or news articles. User interface is optimized for the small screen and there are several options that will make your reading more enjoyable while on the go.
Among the Handy RSS features, we highlight:
- Add/edit RSS channels
- Single list of RSS items
- One-click control
- Read item list and RSS headers offline, and open web browser to read the full item (very neat, especially when flying)
- Mark items as read/unread
- S60 5.0 support (yap, it works on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)
- Keep items in the list for a certain period of time (1 week, 1 month or 3 months)
- Multiple languages supported: Chinese Simplified, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Ukrainian
The problematic part is the price. Many RSS readers such as Viigo and Mobispine are available for free, and I’m not sure there’s a room for paid apps in this category. This seems especially true when you consider that Handy RSS costs $14.95 USD (12.95 EUR). Or I’m wrong? You be the judge…
