Thanks to the well-known hacker Geohot, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active can now easily root their devices. Geohot, who is known widely as the first person to unlock the original iPhone has created a rooting method for the Galaxy S4 Active. Geohot has made the rooting process as simple as possible, by creating a website where users can download the APK to their devices and then run the “activeroot” program, which instantly roots the device.

The XDA community was so desperate for a way to root the Galaxy S4 Active that they started a bounty, which would be given to the person to develop a rooting method for the device. Geohot reportedly developed the rooting method without being privy to the bounty, and he has still yet to claim the almost $500 reward.

If you own the waterproof Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and are set on installing a custom ROM, head over to Geohot’s Activeroot page and get to rooting.
