Nokia took to the stage in New York City today and unveiled the rumored Lumia 1020. The press event kicked off with a focus on cameras, and it’s clear that Nokia is trying to grab the title of the king of the camera phone with this new Lumia phone. The phone has a 41-megapixel backside illuminated sensor, Zeiss wide angle optics with six lenses, optical image stabilization, Xenon flash and a full set of controls to optimize your photos. It’ll take 1080p video with 4x zoom, and you can hop up to 6x zoom as long as you don’t mind stepping down to 720p quality.

Besides a monster of a camera, the Lumia 1020 also includes a 1.5Ghz dual-core S4 processor , a 4.5-inch 1280 x 768 display, 2GB of RAM and a 2,000mAh capacity battery. It weighs in at 158g and is 10.4mm thick.The Lumia 1020 will debut July 26th for $299.99 with a two-year contract. It’ll be exclusive to AT&T in US. The carrier will start accepting pre-orders on July 16th.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 will then arrive in China and Europe later this quarter, with an exclusive variant of the device landing at Telefonica in select European and Latin American markets. The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in yellow, white and black.
