Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, today announced availability of a white paper addressing the challenges of a secure DRM implementation on Symbian OS. The white paper will be available for download on the Symbian Developer Network website, partner extranet as well as the Discretix website.

OS platform security and secure hardware together provide a firm foundation for the deployment of premium content services, securing against even the most sophisticated adversaries. Such attacks are a major issue for secure consumption and distribution of premium content.

A hardware-based security solution such as CryptoCell is needed to protect against attacks by someone in physical possession of the phone. This is in addition to the comprehensive protection against software attacks provided in Symbian OS v9.

The Discretix CryptoCell is a complete embedded security platform for mobile devices. CryptoCell offers an outstanding level of security, while overcoming the challenges of performance, power consumption and silicon footprint. CryptoCell’s flexible architecture offers semiconductor vendors and device manufacturers a solution which can be tailored to meet growing market requirements for robust security solutions.
