There’s a cool project currently raising funds at Kickstarter. Simply called NFC Ring it’s just what the name says – an NFC-enabled ring that has various applications. For instance, you can use it to unlock your phone by simply touching the phone; another cool use is to fire-up some frequently used app, link contact(s) or even to unlock your home if you have an NFC-based lock.

And I’m not the only one thinking this is a cool thing. In fact, the project managed to reach its funding goal of 30,000 GBP (about $46,000) in just 3 days into the campaign. The pitch is simple:

The NFC Ring can be used to unlock doors, mobile phones, transfer information and link people. Best of all the NFC Ring glides right onto your finger – no updates, no charging, and no fuss.

The NFC Ring could be yours for as little as 8 GBP if you just want the NFC insert and have the ring portion 3D printed on your own. 22 GBP, on the other hand, gets you the “whole thing” and a compatible app, while those who want a bigger ring will have to add an additional 3 GBP. Check it out and let us know how you like it.
