A new report from tech site GigaOm reported today that a slew of streaming content providers are looking into Google’s new Chromecast HDMI dongle. According to the report, Vimeo had confirmed it wants to support the Chromecast and Redbox Instant will be bringing its content as well. In addition, other services such as Plex and HBO GO appear to have support in the works.

Chromecast launched with support for a limited number of music and video services. It was made available through Google Play and retailers after it’s announcement last week. Currently, users can stream media from YouTube, Netflix and Google Play through the websites and mobile apps of these platforms.

Users can also mirror media from websites using a Chrome browser plugin, but the feature is in beta. A number of additional services, such as AOL, Pandora, and Revision3, were also announced and should be in the pipeline.

Several other platforms have signaled interest in supporting the device. Redbox Instant is rumored to be bringing its selection of movies and television to the Chromecast. Plex Media center tweeted “Wow, lots of interest in Chromecast and Plex. Yes, we’ve ordered a few of them :-)”, strongly hinting at upcoming support. Finally, Vimeo mobile VP, Nick Alt confirmed upcoming support to GigaOm:

“We’re excited about the emerging opportunities bridging mobile to Connected TV and we look forward to offering Chromecast support in our products.”

Also, there’s some exciting news for HBO subscribers! It appears the new streaming dongle could support the popular HBO GO Streaming service. Hackers from GTVHacker.com uncovered configuration files that hint at tests for HBO GO happening along with services that were officially announced as partners.
