Amazon may be going with a full court press in order to dominate the Android tablet market. According to leaked information from BGR, the retail giant is planning to up the specs on its Kindle Fire HD tablet, while keeping the price low in order to deliver a knockout punch that’ll bring the competition to its knees.

Leaked details suggest the 7-inch Kindle Fire will rock a high-resolution 1,920 x 1,200-pixel display and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 system on chip that includes Adreno 330 graphics. Prototypes are clocked at 2GHz, but it is not known if that is the final speed. There also may be 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB storage options, a front-facing camera, WiFi and cellular connectivity. The Fire HD allegedly will be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Amazon’s Kindle overlay.

The 8.9-inch Fire HD may get  a similar boost in specs with a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel high-definition display and a Snapdragon 800 SoC. There also may be  be a front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear camera. Other rumored specs like the 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB storage options,WiFi and cellular connectivity are the same as the 7-inch model.

BGR’s sources claim Amazon hopes to debut these tablets later this fall.
