Meet Your Neighbors With Nextdoor Android App

A private social network with neighborhoods in mind is moving from the web and iOS into Android territory. Nextdoor is a social networking service that lets neighbors communicate through a private network, allowing for neighbors to share information, recipes, police updates, plan block parties or borrow a lawnmower. Neighbors can also share photos and events through the app.

The application is currently receiving much of its usage from the San Francisco area, where 97 percent of the city’s neighborhoods are represented, and updated on a steady basis.

While the service has been around for 2 years, the move to mobile has been a recent one. Nextdoor launched its iOS app this past May, and garners 37 percent of its urgent alerts from iOS users. The Android release of the app will no doubt bring much more activity to neighborhoods across the U.S.
