Google’s Hangouts app has been updated today, and although we don’t have a full changelog yet, Android Central is reporting that the app includes speed improvements and new emoji.
So, what could Google be hiding in this update? We’ll have to wait and see. Hangouts has indeed become a worthy successor to Google Talk, with slick-looking cross-platform messaging, integrated video chat and messaging. If we’re lucky, we may see Google Voice integration and perhaps SMS support, similar to that of Facebook’s Messenger app. Google’s last Hangouts update brought mostly bugfixes and speed improvements, so hopefully today’s Hangouts update brings us something big. (Fingers crossed!)
The update is rolling out over time, so look for it to hit your Android device soon. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the official changelog.
