Bebo keeps adding operators to its Bebo Open Mobile program. After announcing partners in Ireland, Canada and New Zealand, another carrier is joining their initiative. This time it’s Vodafone New Zealand, which signed to use the social networks’ Bebo Open Mobile Messaging. As a result, Voda NZ’s users will be able to receive Bebo SMS alerts directly to their mobile phones, update Bebo profiles, add photos to their gallery, give virtual gifts and interact with friends — all through the 2802 short code.
Bebo Open Mobile Messaging is available to all Vodafone’s mobile customers. Interested users can choose to get SMS txt updates sent free to their Vodafone mobiles and for 20c per txt update their pages directly via SMS when they’re out and about. Vodafone New Zealand customers can sign-up for this service immediately through the mobile section of the Bebo website and the Bebo mobile Internet site.
Nicely done Bebo – we’re looking for more similar announcements in the near future. And while we’re at it, I’m sure if this experiment proves worthy for Vodafone in New Zealand, they will roll it out across other markets they serve. Now that would be something, right?
