If you had any doubts about the iPhone AppStore’s furious success over the past year, you should know that Apple is well on its way to its 1 billionth iPhone application download. Apple is making a big deal, as it should, about its 1 billion iPhone app downloads. In fact, Apple will be celebrating its 1 billionth app download by giving the lucky downloader a prize pack that includes a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro!
The iPhone maker has posted a downloads-counter that has only picked up speed since Apple announced its promotion. The iTunes App Store is apparently being hammered by requests today, and has been sluggish all morning. We managed to get in to see Apple’s Top 20 lists of All-Time most downloaded premium and free applications, which we’ve reproduced in case iTunes is lagging too hard for you to load the page:
