Nokia is relying on its powerful mapping service and augmented reality to help college grads equipped with a Lumia smartphone land internship.

It is estimated that 54% of recent U.S. college grads are either out of work, or underemployed. Presuming they have a compatible Windows Phone (made by Nokia), they get to benefit from this application and land an internship that could eventually lead them to a job.

To make this happen, the Finnish company has teamed-up with Internships.com, the world’s largest internship marketplace. This in turn helps users check out and apply for more than 75,000 internships, entry-level and part-time jobs from more than 40,000 companies.

The application connects your social networks to open positions, and then shows you individuals in your network that can connect you to the job and hiring manager. In addition, you can use the app to create and store a copy of your resume, as well as saving the details about positions that interest you. Finally, when you do get an internship interview, you can easily get the latest news and information about your potential employer, along with details about area demographics, and location- and field-specific trends. Pretty cool, too bad it’s limited to Lumia smartphones…
