Sony announced Android-based Walkman media players in its own backyard, Engadget is reporting. The Walkman ZX1 and Walkman F880 Series are both powered by a 1GHZ dual-core processor, while also having a 4-inch 480×854 display, NFC, Bluetooth and Android 4.1.

In addition, Sony made sure these two are masters when it comes to music playback, boasting 192kHz/24bit high-res audio support with a special “S-Master HX” digital amp.

The Walkman ZX1 is a more expensive model with no less than 128GB of internal storage and a price tag of 75,000 yen, which translates into roughly $760. Yeah, it’s kinda too much for a media player, but alas – guess Sony knows what it’s doing (or does it?).

On the other hand, the Walkman F Series packs 16, 32 or 64 GB of internal storage, and is available for 27,000, 30,000 and 40,000 yen ($273, $304 and $405), respectively. It will come in few color options, including pink, black, white and blue.

The Walkman ZX1 will start selling in Japan on December 7th, while the F Series will be “live” on October 19th. And no, we’ve no idea whether these two will ever “make it” to the Western hemisphere…
