Apple TV keeps the content flowing, adds MLS and Disney Junior Channels

Apple has been on a content expansion binge as of late, with the company seemingly rolling out new channel apps every other week. The latest came today as the company added Major League Soccer (MLS) and Disney Junior apps to its growing list of things to watch.

Going into the MLS app I noticed that it offered what the other sports apps on the box gave, which is scores, standings, and video content from Major League Soccer. Of course, there is also an option for viewers to snatch up the league’s $24.99 a year subscription to view live games — not bad when compared to the NFL and NBA league passes.

As for the third Disney channel added to the Apple TV roster, Disney Junior, the same restrictions apply. In order to watch both on demand and live content on all three Disney channel apps, you’ll need to have authentication through a participating cable provider. Yea, lame.

The Cupertino based tech giant is showing folks that the Apple TV is no longer a hobby; the company is taking the little hockey puck device seriously with all these content deals. The last few months have been extremely excited for many customers, as the company began the summer in June by adding HBO GO and WatchESPN to the Apple TV set-top-box.

One thing I won’t do is start-up iTV speculation from all of this new content — because, to be frank — I really don’t care about the prospects of an Apple TV set.

Regardless, I’m happy to see the company finally begin to focus on its little box. I don’t mind being spoiled with all the updates.
