The heads behind Google’s Android team updated the platform distribution numbers going into the month of October. As expected, adoption for the Jelly Bean operating system has continued to grow as it now approaches 50 percent of all Android devices (48.6% to be exact). Keep in mind, this doesn’t mean that half of all users are on the latest version (4.3).

Rounding out the rest of the numbers: Ice Cream Sandwich now sits at 20.6 percent, Honeycomb remains alive at 0.1 percent, Gingerbread somehow still manages to hold 28.5 percent, and Froyo still alive at 2.2 percent.

Can you believe they’re folks still on Froyo?! Crazy.
