
Few days ago we wrote that Samsung decided to change the name of its new flagship device Omnia HD into simply i8910. Well, that ain’t gonna happen, at least not in all markets.
Apparently, the Korean giant will push its 8 megapixel-equipped smartphone in Italy under the “good ol'” Omnia brand, keeping the original name – Omnia HD. Moreover, to highlight the device’s powerful video capabilities, Samsung will use the upcoming blockbuster movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, for the launch.
Samsung’s strategy seems to differentiate its sub-brands by regions. For instance, in Asia they have the Anycall brand, which we hardly see in Europe or U.S. On the other hand, we haven’t seen a single Symbian S60 device hitting States, so I guess it’s better to offer customers something they already know – and they’ve heard about Omnia…
