Lenovo, which these days calls itself a multimode computing company, announced the Lenovo A10, an Android-powered laptop.

Running Android 4.2, it weighs less than 1kg and is thus easy to carry around. Unfortunately though, it’s not exactly a powerhouse under the hood, boasting a rather dated Rockchip RK3188 quad-core Cortex-A9 chip clocked at 1.6GHz. In addition, it also comes with a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 screen which can be flipped around 300 degrees to serve in the so called “stand mode.”

But it’s the “laptop mode” that’s the point here. Lenovo added few of its own customizations to make it easier to edit documents, manage files and overall get stuff done while on the go. Users will benefit from the app launcher, task bar and status bar for “quick, intuitive access” to the app library and desktop.

Finally, the A10 also sports a front-facing VGA camera for video calls and stereo speakers for improved music (and video) playback.

Pricing and availability will vary by region, and we yet have to learn whether the Chinese company will bring its Android tablet to the West.
